While NCB is active in a range of policy areas, we select a number of themes to guide our proactive work to influence government and Parliament. These policy priorities reflect the breadth of NCB's work and are underpinned by the rights and interests of children and young people. NCB’s policy priorities are reviewed regularly, making sure that we remain open and responsive to new developments, as well as enabling us to assess our progress and impact.

From 2004 to 2007, working with the Children’s Legal Centre and funded by the Nuffield Foundation, the unit carried out a Child Impact Assessment project to analyse proposed legislation for its likely effects on children and young people.
